    Unit 1: .Net Framework Introduction, IDE and Language Features of VB.NET 2005

    • The introduction of the .NET Framework – The Common Language Runtime;
    • The new language features and syntax in VB.NET 2005; The basic structure of a VB.NET project; How to create a Windows project;
    • Use the main features of the IDE; Windows Forms and built-in Controls;
    • Hands-on Practice: Create a Windows form and write some simple VB.Net code to make it work.

    Unit 2: VB.Net 2005 Language Syntax Fundamentals

    • Introduction to Basic Programming Language Structure in VB.Net 2005;
    • What are variables and why we need to use variables; declare variables and assign values to variables;
    • What are data types and why they are critical to programming; Value Types vs. Reference Types; using Data Types to declare variables;
    • Conditional and structural computing logics: If statement, Select Case statement;
    • Loop structures: Do While loop structure, For Next loop structure;
    • Hands-on Practice: Create a project to practice the language features and effects;

    Unit 3: VB.Net 2005 Language Syntax Fundamentals (Continued)

    • Three types of errors in the programming; How to debug the program; debugging tools in Visual Studio.Net 2005.
    • The Error trapping and handling; Try –Catch block structure;
    • What are arrays and when to use arrays; using Arrays in VB.Net 2005;
    • What are collections and what is the difference between arrays and collections; Using Collections in VB.Net.
    • Hands-on Practice: Create a Windows project to demo and test the above concepts.

    Unit 4: Object-Oriented Capabilities of VB.NET 2005 Programming

    • The basic concepts and terminology of object-oriented  programming specifically designed in VB.NET 2005;
    • Creating Classes – variables, constructors, methods, properties, overloading, etc;
    • The concepts of public interfaces of a class: How to communicate with a class? Properties, Methods and Events;
    • Object declaration and instantiation, referencing and dereferencing ;
    • Hands-on Practice: Write classes and use classes to develop application.

    Unit 5: The Advanced OOP Features of VB.NET 2005Programming

    • Class Inheritance – One of the major features of the OOP language;
    • Delegate — How delegates work in .Net and the three major areas the delegates play their roles;
    • How to declare and raise events in VB.NET classes; How to handle the events in applications;
    • Hands-On Practice: Write classes with to utilize the inheritance feature and create events in a class and use it in application.

    Unit 6: ADO.NET and Data Access in VB.NET 2005 Language

    • ADO.NET Architecture and the classes in the ADO Object Model;
    • Use Connection, Command and DataReader to access and present data;
    • New concept in ADO.NET: DataSet and DatdaAdapter. their structure and features;
    • Hands-on Practice: Use ADO.NET in Windows forms to access the database and present the data.

    Unit 7: Advanced Features of ADO.NET

    • Updating data in the database using ADO.Net Model: Using Connection and Command objects to directly insert, delete or update the data in the data source;
    • Updating the off-line data in the dataset and uploading the changed to the data source using DataAdapter;
    • Call Stored procedures using ADO.NET and handle the transactions in the off-line database updating;
    • Hands-on Practice: Use DataAdapter to apply changes made in a dataset to the data sources;
