This unit is provided to introduce AutoCAD concepts such as basic screen elements, use of function keys, opening a drawing file, setting units and limits, basic drafting methods & tools such as the concept of coordinate systems, to start create basic geometries, using object snaps, methods of creating selection sets, options of the zoom command, using the View command, and saving drawings.

    Unit 2—Object Construction and Manipulation
The unit provides a brief explanation of all AutoCAD drawing and editing commands in addition to such topics as coordinate methods of input and grips. A series of tutorials follow to complement the topics covered in the unit. Additional questions and problems are provided at the end of the unit.

Unit 3—Object Construction and Editing Methods
The unit continues to provide more drafting tools and editing commands. A series of practices and assignments analyses as well as the problem solving methods will be focused in the class. Additional questions and problems will be assigned at the end of the unit.

Unit 4—Geometric Constructions, Shape Description/Multi-View Projection

The unit discusses how AutoCAD commands and command options may be used for geometric constructions. Shape description and multi-view project using Object snap-Point filter is the focus of this unit. One tutorial follows outlining the steps used for creating multi-views drawing. Hatch as well as Layer concept also will be introduced. A series of tutorial exercises follow along with additional problems at the end of the chapter.

Unit 5— Text Creating, Block, Wblock, To Establish Library
This unit is provided to introduce deferent way to create and edit text in the drawing and how to establish your own library as storage bin by using the commends Block, Wblock and Insert. Tutorial follows a creation of prototype – Title Block.

Unit 6—Dimensioning Techniques and Paper Space Concept
Dimension techniques using AutoCAD are the topic of this unit. Basic Dimensioning rules are discussed before concentrating on all AutoCAD dimensioning options and dimension variable. Tutorial follows, along with additional questions and problems on dimensioning. The Paper Space and Xref – the external reference will be introduced in this unit.

    Unit 7—Analyzing 2D Drawings
This unit provides information on analyzing drawing for accuracy reasons. The commands Areas, ID, List and Dist will be used as analysis tools along with the DDMODIFY dialog box. A series of tutorial exercises follow to allow the user to test their accuracy of drawing. Additional questions and problems are provided. A project (either mechanical or architectural) will be assigned and analyzed, which is an important practice to apply that all you learned Autocad 2D drafting skill at the end of the unit.

    Unit 8—Basic 3D Drafting
This unit provides the basic 3D drafting skill. 3D coordinates, 3D viewpoints, Multi Viewport will be introduced. The basic drafting methods in 3D coordinate are also discussed in this unit. Tutorial exercises follow, along with additional questions and problems related to 3D topics.

    Unit 9— 3D Wireframe Drawing
This unit begins to create the practical wireframe drawing skill and editing method. The topic focus how to efficiently create a simple but useful 3D drawing with by the comparison with those advanced 3D drafting methods such as wireframe with surfaces, meshes or even solids modeling. Tutorial exercises follow in addition to other problems at the end of the unit.

Unit 10— 3D Dimensioning and 3D Modeling Introducing
This unit begins to analysis and discuss the assigned projects. 3D dimensioning method will be focused together with exercises in the class. Also the 3D solids modeling may be introduced. Tutorial exercises follow the topic.
